Course Description

This course introduces students to practical small-scale forest and invasive species management with an emphasis on safety, sustainability, and ecological stewardship. Participants learn to identify common trees and shrubs, distinguish native and invasive species, and apply best practices for invasive species control. Instruction also covers sustainable harvesting methods that support home heating needs, mushroom cultivation, and biodiversity protection. ***** Required Material/Supplies: Weather appropriate clothing, closed toe safety boots (cut resistant, waterproof, ankle support, and non-slip soles - recommended ASTM F2413) and bottled water
