Course Description
Discover the joy of rhythm and movement in Rhythm Tap Basics, a fun and accessible introduction to tap dance designed for adults of all experience levels. Students explore the foundations of tap technique, rhythm, and musicality through essential vocabulary, including shuffles, flaps, ball changes, cramp rolls, and toe/heel drops. Each class emphasizes counting, timing, and the relationship between movement and sound. No formal dance background is required. Brief spotlights on tap's jazz and cultural roots connect your steps to the art form's vibrant history. By the end of the course, students will confidently perform a short routine that blends rhythm, coordination, and expression. ***** Required Materials/Supplies: Appropriate footwear (non-slip, athletic shoes preferred) (tap shoes optional) Student Eligibility: This class is for adult learners 18 years old (not currently enrolled in High School) or older.
