Emergency Medical Technician Initial
Course Description
EMT students will learn medical terminology, how to assess patients, and multiple hands-on, life-saving skills. Hands-on learning includes: assessing and triaging patients, medical equipment operation and maintenance, critical thinking and problem-solving, and clinical assignments just to name a few. Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to sit for the NC OEMS credentialing examination for Emergency Medical Technician. ***** Enrollment & Eligibility Requirements: Students must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC) or successful completion of an entrance exam assessing reading comprehension and English language skills at an 11th grade level or higher. The age requirement for this class is 17 years old. Students must also have a valid driver's license.
