Course Description
This foundational course is designed to introduce students in the YouthBuild program to the essential skills and knowledge required for entry-level positions in the culinary industry. Through hands-on instruction and professional guidance, students will develop key competencies in kitchen safety, knife skills, food preparation, and sanitation practices. The curriculum emphasizes teamwork, time management, and the principles of effective food handling, preparing participants to excel in dynamic culinary environments. By the end of the course, students will possess the foundational culinary skills and workplace readiness needed to pursue further training or begin their careers in the food service industry, setting the stage for future growth and success. ***** Required Materials and Supplies: Students will need a hat, apron/smock, slip resistant closed toe shoes. ***** Enrollment Eligibility: This course is for students enrolled in the Youth Build Program.
