Paramedic Initial
Course Description
This course teaches students how to assess the urgent needs of patients, stabilize their conditions, and perform advanced life support (ALS), to include administering IV fluids, injections, and medications. Students also learn advanced patient assessment, airway management, pharmacological interventions, and many other lifesaving medical techniques. Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to sit for the NC OEMS credentialing examination for Paramedic. ***** Enrollment & Eligibility Requirements: Students must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET, TACS), must be at least 17 years old on or before the official end date of the class, must be a North Carolina EMT, NREMT or other State EMS credential with preferably a minimum of 6 months of verifiable field experience, must be able to pass a criminal background check, immunization records are required, and must complete a college level reading and math placement test.
